Shenzhen People's Hospital (Shenzhen Institute of Respiratory Diseases)

Shenzhen People's Hospital was founded in 1946 and is the city-owned hospital with the longest history, the largest scale, and the strongest comprehensive treatment capacity in the city. In June 2018, it was selected as one of the first batch of construction units for the Guangdong High-level Hospital Summit Plan. At present, it has formed a development pattern of "one hospital, five districts, six sites", namely: the hospital headquarters (Liuyibu), Longhua Branch, Bantian District, Dongmen First Outpatient Department, Dapeng Translational Medicine Innovation Center, and Bao'an Hospital (planned new construction). The hospital is the affiliated hospital of Southern University of Science and Technology and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University Medical College. The hospital (excluding Bao'an Hospital) has a total of 3,060 open beds, 5,284 staff members, a total land area of 132,700 square meters (97,100 square meters for the headquarters), and a total building area of 477,400 square meters (288,900 square meters for the headquarters). In 2024, the hospital's total outpatient and emergency visits were 3.792 million, discharged patients were 148,000, and surgeries were 120,000. There are 119 affiliated Party organizations, including 20 general Party branches and 98 Party branches; there are 1,924 Party members, including 1,325 in-service Party members. The hospital has been rated A+ in the national tertiary public hospital performance assessment for five consecutive years, and its comprehensive strength has entered the top 100 in the country. The hospital currently has 4 national key clinical specialties (Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, General Surgery, Critical Care Medicine, Geriatrics), 1 national flagship department construction project for integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine, has been approved for lung organ transplantation qualifications, has built an aviation rescue base and completed its first flight, and is a national stem cell clinical research, national drug clinical trial, and national medical device clinical trial filing institution, with 6 branches of the National Clinical Medical Research Center, 1 Guangdong Provincial Clinical Medical Research Center (Geriatrics), 17 Guangdong Provincial key clinical disciplines, and 17 Shenzhen Municipal key medical specialties; it has 4 provincial-level major scientific and technological innovation platforms, 19 municipal-level key laboratories/innovation platforms, 18 municipal-level and above clinical quality control centers, 2 Shenzhen Municipal Clinical Medical Research Centers (Respiratory Diseases, Geriatrics), and is the Shenzhen Major Disease Prevention and Treatment Center for Alzheimer's Disease and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. It has successively introduced 44 well-known discipline teams including academician teams such as Zhong Nanshan and Dong Jiahong, and signed "Three Famous Projects" agreements; there are a total of 75 Shenzhen high-level medical talents. In the latest performance monitoring of 43 diseases in the city, our hospital ranks first among 16 municipal hospitals in the number of discharged patients for 20 diseases.
