武汉科技大学城市学院于2002年7月经湖北省教育厅批准成立，2004年2月教育部核准备案，属本科层次的独立学院，目前在校生14078人。学院现有34个本科专业，13个专科专业，涵盖经、文、理、工、医、管理、艺术等7大学科门类，本科专业布局结构为：工学12个占35.29%、理学2个占5.88%、文学3个占8.82%、经济学1个占2.94%、医学2个占5.88%、管理学10个占29.41%、艺术学4个占11.76%，已形成以工科为主多学科协调发展的办学特色。
