China Railway 16th Bureau Group, affiliated with the world's top 500 company China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC), is a large national comprehensive super-grade construction enterprise. It holds super-grade qualifications in railway and building construction, first-grade general contracting qualifications in highway, municipal, water conservancy and hydropower, mechanical and electrical installation, first-grade professional contracting qualifications in urban rail transit, highway pavement, bridges, tunnels, and decoration projects, and class A design qualifications in building industry (construction engineering) and class A(II) in railway industry. The enterprise's annual revenue exceeds 40 billion yuan, ranking first among the top 100 construction enterprises in railways, highways, tunnels, and bridges nationwide.
China Railway 16th Bureau Group has a glorious development history. Its predecessor was the 11th and 13th Divisions of the Railway Engineer Corps of the People's Liberation Army, established in 1952, merged into the 11th Division in 1981, known as the "Capital Division" of the Railway Engineer Corps. In 1984, it was collectively transferred to the Ministry of Railways and renamed the 16th Engineering Bureau of the Ministry of Railways. In 2000, it came under the management of the Central Enterprise Work Commission and renamed "China Railway 16th Engineering Bureau". In 2002, it was restructured into China Railway 16th Bureau Group Co., Ltd. In 2003, after the establishment of SASAC, it came under the management of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission. In March 2008, as one of the major groups under China Railway Construction Corporation, it was successfully listed as a whole.
Over more than 60 years of development, China Railway 16th Bureau Group has participated in the construction of more than 400 national key projects. The enterprise has grown into a king of long tunnel construction, a vanguard in deep-water high-bridge construction, a pioneer in urban rail transit construction, a special force in high-rise building construction and real estate development, a main force in high-speed railway and highway construction, a regular army in railway operation management, a new force in capital operation, and a national team in municipal, water conservancy, and hydropower engineering construction. The group company has excellent equipment, complete types, and strong strength. It owns 4,603 sets (units) of various major construction machinery and testing equipment, with comprehensive mechanized construction level reaching over 90%, achieving one-line mechanized operation for subgrade, bridges, tunnels, earthwork, and high-grade highway pavement construction. It owns 37 sets (units) of full sets of lifting, transporting, and erecting equipment for high-speed railway passenger dedicated line construction, making it one of the units with the most passenger dedicated line construction equipment in China. It also owns 36 units of internationally first-class advanced shield machines, making it the construction enterprise with the largest diameter shield equipment in China. The group currently has 22,000 regular employees, including 101 professor-level senior engineers and 1,716 expert-type talents with senior professional titles or above. More than 240 completed projects have won national, provincial, and ministerial quality engineering awards, including 11 national quality projects, 15 Luban Prizes, 13 Zhan Tianyou Prizes, and 8 national science and technology progress special and first/second prizes, making it a gold medal winner in the industry and widely praised in the construction field.
