China North Vehicle Research Institute

China North Vehicle Research Institute is a comprehensive large-scale scientific research base, special vehicle technology development center and test and inspection center under China Ordnance Industry Group, and is a wholly state-owned public institution. The Institute is mainly engaged in the research, design, testing and trial production of complete special vehicles and their components, using modern design methods to develop new vehicles, and conducting research and development in technologies such as overall design, new powertrains, transmission, running gear, steering, electronic and electrical systems, and automatic control.
The Institute has strong R&D capabilities and complete scientific research facilities. It has four research and technology departments covering more than 40 specialties, one information center, and two trial production departments. It has more than 40 modern laboratories, including a key laboratory for transmission, vehicle electromagnetic compatibility testing, road simulation testing, and battery testing. It has a group of vehicle engineering experts well-known both inside and outside the industry, including Wang Zherong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Since its establishment, the Institute has achieved a large number of important scientific research results. Twelve scientific and technological achievements won awards at the 1978 National Science Conference, and nearly 170 achievements have won the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the Science and Technology Award, and ministerial-level Science and Technology Progress Awards.
