Zhongchengyuan

China Urban Development Research Institute (abbreviated as Zhongchengyuan) is affiliated with the competent department of housing and urban-rural development of the People's Republic of China. In accordance with the spirit of the Central Organization Establishment Commission, it has completed the transformation from a public institution to an enterprise and has been registered with the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, with a registered capital of 230 million RMB. The institute's headquarters is located in Beijing. Zhongchengyuan boasts a team of authoritative and top experts, scholars, and senior urban management talents in China, making it the most authoritative and influential national think tank research institution in the field of urban development research in China. Zhongchengyuan holds high the great banner of building a harmonious society, carries forward the scientific spirit of pragmatism and innovation, undertakes the immediate and forward-looking research tasks of major national urban development issues, and leads the healthy development of China's urban construction. Based on the needs of China's urban modernization, industrialization, informatization, and internationalization, it has established a comprehensive scientific research system and operation model in practice, adhering to the path of combining scientific research with operation and integrating theory with practice, making important contributions to promoting the scientific development of China's infrastructure and urban civilization, and advancing the common prosperity of urban culture and economy. Over the past 20 years since its establishment, following the principle of "centering on urban science research and focusing on urban-rural construction and development," Zhongchengyuan has participated in and completed a series of major national engineering projects. Adhering to the key work points of "innovative cities and scientific development," it has worked closely with national ministries and local governments to complete economic development consulting, new urban planning, resource-based city transformation, and major research projects assigned by higher authorities in many cities across the country. In recent years, Zhongchengyuan has successively carried out nationwide research on 35 subsystem projects, including urban construction, urban management, urban tourism, and urban culture, providing strong support for scientific urban development and central decision-making. Against the background of increasingly accelerated global urbanization, Zhongchengyuan has conducted forward-looking exploration and research on a series of major topics such as urban digital construction, urban agricultural development, and bioenergy strategy, achieving gratifying results. The "China Urban Scientific Development Comprehensive Evaluation System" led by Zhongchengyuan is a set of comprehensive evaluation systems for urban scientific development compiled under the guidance of new ideas, new perspectives, and new methods, applying scientific theories such as statistics, sociology, and management science. With strong support from higher authorities and under the correct leadership of the institute's party committee and leadership team, Zhongchengyuan conducted detailed statistics on 261 cities at or above the prefecture level nationwide, carried out scientific research and analysis on the current situation and development process of cities in major developed countries and typical developing countries, and completed the E&G system design and comprehensive evaluation report on urban scientific development. This is the crystallization of the hard work and wisdom of Zhongchengyuan and national experts and scholars, and Zhongchengyuan holds complete intellectual property rights. It is internationally recognized in the field as the most representative, fair, systematic, and guiding evaluation system for urban scientific development in developing countries. To this end, the United Nations Development Programme and the South-South Cooperation Organization have cooperated with Zhongchengyuan to establish the project institution and permanent site of the "South-South Urban Cooperation and Development Forum" in China, using this system as the basis to carry out urban development evaluation work in developing countries worldwide, and its achievements and social and scientific value have been highly evaluated and affirmed. Facing the historical moment of China's great rejuvenation, as the only national comprehensive research institution for urban development research in China and a member of national think tanks such as the China Economic and Social Council and the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, Zhongchengyuan will, under the guidance of the Scientific Outlook on Development, follow the path of combining industry, academia, and research, strive to leverage its own advantages, scientifically integrate advantageous resources from all sides, and, as always, work hand in hand with Chinese and foreign cities and research institutions to write the most splendid chapter in China's urban development.
