China Nonferrous Metal Changsha Survey and Design Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Changkan Institute) was established in 1964, then named Changsha Survey Company of the Metallurgical Survey General Company, affiliated to the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry; in 1983 it was placed under the former China National Nonferrous Metals Industry Corporation; in 1998 it was renamed China Nonferrous Metals Industry Changsha Survey and Design Research Institute; in June 2008 it joined Aluminum Corporation of China; in April 2010 it was incorporated into the engineering technology sector of Aluminum Corporation of China; in March 2011, the engineering technology sector of Aluminum Corporation of China underwent restructuring and reorganization, and it was renamed China Nonferrous Metal Changsha Survey and Design Research Institute Co., Ltd.; it is a comprehensive Grade A survey and design unit approved by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People's Republic of China, has been rated many times as a National Advanced Unit in Engineering Survey, National Excellent Unit in Surveying and Mapping Quality, and one of China's Top 100 Survey and Design Units in Comprehensive Strength, with fixed assets of nearly 300 million yuan.
