Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources

Chongqing Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources is a scientific research institution and technical support unit directly under the Chongqing Municipal Land Resources and Housing Administration Bureau. Its predecessor was the Chongqing Coalfield Geology Research Institute, established in 1953, with a history of nearly 60 years. It is mainly engaged in shale gas exploration and development, geological and mineral resource survey, evaluation and exploration, geological disaster prevention and control engineering, land consolidation, experimental testing, and scientific and technological research. There are currently 680 employees, more than 300 of whom hold master's degrees or above. There are 14 professor-level senior engineers, 87 senior engineers, 80 personnel with various registered qualifications, and more than 300 engineers. There are 40 recipients of special government allowances of the State Council, experts with outstanding contributions, Chongqing academic and disciplinary leaders, Chongqing Top 100 Outstanding Professional and Technical Talents, Top 100 Outstanding Young Scientific and Technological Talents of the Ministry of Land and Resources, and various experts. Peng Suping, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, serves as the director of the academic committee. In addition, 17 Yangtze River Scholars, National 973 Chief Scientists, National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars recipients, New Century Millions of Talents, and chief experts in related fields have been appointed as visiting researchers, academic committee members, and scientific and technological consultants.
At present, our institute has built 3 * and 5 provincial and ministerial-level research centers and scientific research platforms. It has 4 independent legal entity enterprises: Chongqing Huadi Engineering Survey and Design Institute, Chongqing Hexin Mine Safety Evaluation and Consulting Co., Ltd., Chongqing Diyan Technology Development Co., Ltd., and Chongqing Coalfield Hotel Co., Ltd. It has established 4 joint ventures: Chongqing Shale Gas Exploration and Development Co., Ltd. with PetroChina, Sinochem Group, and the State Development and Investment Corporation; Chongqing Mineral Resources Development Co., Ltd. with Huaneng Group and Chongqing Energy Investment Group through technology equity investment; SDIC Chongqing Shale Gas Development and Utilization Co., Ltd. with the State Development and Investment Corporation; and Schlumberger Zhongyu Shale Gas Technical Services (Chongqing) Co., Ltd. with Schlumberger Oilfield (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. At the same time, as a local investment representative, it established the country's first shale gas venture capital fund and, in cooperation with the Northern New District, established the Chongqing Shale Gas Industry Investment Fund.
Our institute has always adhered to the development orientation of building the institute through scientific research, prospering the institute through scientific research, and strengthening the institute through scientific research. In recent years, the institute has undertaken more than 200 scientific research projects, including National 863 and 973 projects and Natural Science Foundation projects, obtained 45 various science and technology awards, published more than 600 papers, obtained 22 patents, and published 32 monographs. It has been honored with titles such as Advanced Collective in Science and Technology during the 11th Five-Year Plan of the Ministry of Land and Resources, Advanced Collective in Science and Technology and International Cooperation during the 12th Five-Year Plan of the Ministry of Land and Resources, Advanced Collective of the National Land and Resources System, Advanced Collective in Science and Technology of Chongqing, and Chongqing May 1st Labor Award.
