Hubei Union Light Industry Design & Engineering Co., Ltd. was established in 2009, and its predecessor was the Design Institute of Hubei Province Light Industry Scientific Research and Design Institute.

In 2008, in accordance with the national document requirements on the restructuring of public institutions and the establishment of a modern enterprise system, and approved by the competent department of the light industry in Hubei Province (approval document number: E Qing Zi [2008] No. 40), the Design Institute of Hubei Province Light Industry Scientific Research and Design Institute, a provincial state-owned public institution established in 1958, completed its restructuring, and Hubei Union Light Industry Design & Engineering Co., Ltd. was established. The main design personnel and design qualifications of the former Hubei Province Light Industry Scientific Research and Design Institute were transferred as a whole to the newly established Hubei Union Light Industry Design & Engineering Co., Ltd.

Inheriting more than fifty years of history, technology and cultural accumulation, the company has achieved considerable development since its establishment. It has now become one of the important design units in China specializing in engineering fields such as food, beverages, dairy products, biopharmaceuticals, food for special medical purposes, daily chemicals, pulp and paper, and industrial cultural tourism, and has formed its own distinct characteristics and unique style.

The company has a wide business coverage and holds a Grade A qualification for engineering design in the construction industry (architectural engineering), a Grade B qualification for engineering design in the light and textile industry (food fermentation and tobacco engineering, pulp and paper engineering), a Grade B qualification for urban and rural planning, a Grade B credit qualification for engineering consulting units, pressure piping design qualifications (public piping GB2, industrial piping GC1, GCD), engineering bidding, government procurement, enterprise procurement engineering consulting enterprise service capability level 1 qualification, whole-process engineering consulting enterprise service capability level 1 qualification, and service enterprise level 1 qualification. The company has always attached importance to quality management and has successfully passed the ISO9001 quality, environment, and health three-system certification. After the restructuring, the company entered a track of sound development.
