The company was founded in Michigan, USA in the mid-1990s, formerly known as Zhangjiakou Baitong Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. It is one of the earliest professional companies in China engaged in the research and development of complete diesel engine after-treatment systems. For many years, the company has been committed to the product research and development of vehicle diesel engine exhaust after-treatment systems, and is one of the few enterprises in China with the capability to supply a complete set of products from "NOx sensors", "urea injection devices", "online monitoring systems" to "SCR muffler packaging systems". The developed integrated closed-loop control urea injection system can meet National IV and above diesel engine emission standards, and has been massively supplied to domestic and international markets such as new vehicles, in-use vehicles, ships, generator sets, and construction machinery.
As early as the mid-1990s, the company's CEO, Dr. Li Ping, a Canadian Chinese aero-engine scientist, began to follow Dr. Wu Jingxiong, an American gas-phase chemist, to conduct research on vehicle-mounted urea injection systems, and founded Great Lakes Technologies, PLC., commencing the research and development of vehicle-mounted DeNOx systems and controllers (DCU).
