BRITA's long history began in 1966, when founder Heinz Hankammer had an idea to optimize tap water in a convenient and simple way. Since then, the company, headquartered in Taunusstein, Germany, has grown from a humble start-up to a renowned enterprise active on the international stage.

In 1970, BRITA's first household water filter jug was granted a patent, and the entire family devoted all their efforts to the company's development. In 1980, the BRITA professional water filter jug was launched. Today, not only cafes and restaurants use BRITA's professional water filtration equipment, but hospitals, nursing homes, schools, kindergartens, and companies can also have their own BRITA professional water purification solutions.

Currently, BRITA has branches in Japan, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. As of today, BRITA employs 1,827 people worldwide, with business operations in 66 countries across five continents, possessing 25 domestic and international subsidiaries, joint-stock companies, sales and industrial partners, and operating multiple manufacturing facilities in Germany, the UK, Switzerland, and China.
