It officially commenced operations in October 1991, and is a modern large-scale international airport in China that integrates sea, land, air, and rail transportation. In terms of passenger traffic, annual passenger throughput surpassed 10 million in 2003, officially ranking among the world's top 100 airports. In terms of cargo, the cargo and mail throughput exceeded 1 million tons in 2015, officially entering the ranks of airports with a cargo and mail throughput of over one million tons.
