Guangdong Lingnan Institute of Technology, originally established in 1993 as "Guangzhou Lingnan Culture and Technology School," was officially approved by the People's Government of Guangdong Province in May 2001. It is a private higher vocational and technical college primarily focused on major health-related disciplines, with supporting programs in electronic information, intelligent manufacturing, finance, commerce and trade, as well as culture and arts. The institute currently operates two campuses in Guangzhou and Qingyuan. As of December 2023, the total campus area is 1,296 mu, with building area exceeding 680,000 square meters. The total value of teaching and research equipment is 198.6 million RMB, with over 1.75 million paper books and over 830,000 electronic books. There are 14,667 full-time higher vocational students and a total of 1,567 faculty and staff (including 297 part-time teachers), among whom 1,184 are full-time teachers. The institute offers 42 higher vocational enrollment majors, including provincial key majors such as Pharmacy, Software Technology, Mold Design and Manufacturing, and Animation Production Technology. It also features provincial second-class brand construction majors in Chinese Materia Medica and Small and Medium Enterprise Entrepreneurship and Management, as well as five provincial high-level professional group construction projects in Nursing, Chinese Materia Medica, Software Technology, Mold Design and Manufacturing, and Animation Production Technology. In the past three years, the institute has won 4 Guangdong Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards. Since its inception, it has cultivated nearly 100,000 high-quality technical and skilled talents for society. As a demonstrative higher vocational college among private institutions in Guangdong Province, it has been awarded the title of Guangdong Provincial Demonstration School for College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship for three consecutive rounds, and has been approved by the Provincial Development and Reform Commission for a key provincial-level industry-education integration demonstration park construction project among universities in Guangdong.
