Scania is a provider of transport solutions. We are committed to working together with our customers and partners to drive the shift towards a sustainable transport system. In 2022, we delivered 80,238 trucks, 4,994 buses, and 13,400 engines to customers worldwide. Net sales for the full year amounted to SEK 170,004 million, with service business accounting for over 21%.
Founded in 1891, Scania operates in more than 100 countries and regions, with its R&D center in Sweden and branch offices in Brazil and India. Production units are concentrated in Europe, Latin America, and Asia, with regional production centers in Africa, Asia, and Eurasia. Scania is a member of the TRATON Group, a part of the Volkswagen Group.
From a private railway carriage manufacturer at its founding in 1891 to a leading provider of sustainable transport solutions today, Scania has weathered over a century of change and continues to stand at the pinnacle of the global commercial vehicle market, writing new chapters of success.
In 2004, Scania established a representative office in China, and in 2007, Scania Sales (China) Co., Ltd. was founded. In 2010, driven by confidence in the Chinese market and a long-term strategy rooted in China, the Scania Group established a China Strategy Center in China. In 2016, Scania China transferred its headquarters functions to Shanghai. In 2018, the new generation Scania, developed over ten years with an investment of SEK 20 billion, was unveiled in China. In 2020, a new factory, 100% owned by Scania, was inaugurated in Rugao, Jiangsu. In June 2022, construction of the Scania Rugao production and manufacturing base began.
