Sichuan FAW Toyota

Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Sichuan FAW Toyota) is a Sino-foreign joint venture jointly funded by China FAW Group Corporation and Toyota Motor Corporation. It is Toyota's first complete vehicle joint venture project in China and an important automotive production base in western China. The company was established on November 10, 1998, with a total investment of USD 918 million and a registered capital of USD 307 million, with a 50-50 investment ratio between Chinese and foreign parties.
Sichuan FAW Toyota is located in Chengdu, the most prosperous and charming city in western China, in the Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone (Longquanyi District), covering an area of 455,400 square meters. The company introduced Toyota's products and technology and officially started production in 2001, manufacturing Coaster mid-size buses and Prado off-road vehicles, with an annual production capacity of 30,000 units. In April 2001, the Coaster bus was officially launched on the market, achieving good performance in the same year of production. In May 2003, the company completed the Prado off-road vehicle production line, and in September of the same year, it began formal production of the "PRADO" off-road vehicle in the LAND CRUISER series. From the start of production to the end of 2011, the company achieved excellent performance with 11 consecutive years of rapid development, tripling its workforce (from 600 to over 2,000 employees), increasing annual output by 15 times (from 2,000 to 30,000 units), and ranking among the top in the machinery industry of Sichuan Province in terms of economic benefits.
