中心长期承担工业和信息化部网络信息安全的技术保障工作，是部网络信息安全责任主体单位。多年来参与了奥运会、党代会以及人大和政协会议、重大节日期间等重点时期的信息安全保障，各应用系统运行平稳，网络信息技术成果显著。
中心一直承担工业和通信业经济运行监测及预测预警系统和决策支持基础数据库运行维护相关工作，参与经济运行监测和经济发展重大问题分析，取得丰硕成果。
