Shanghai Bearing Technology Research Institute (abbreviated as SBI) is affiliated with Shanghai Academy of Sciences and is a technology-based enterprise with independent legal person qualification. Since its establishment in 1979, it has been engaged in research on rolling and sliding bearings. In 2010, with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the Shanghai Special Bearing Engineering Technology Research Center was established, further promoting the construction of special bearing R&D capabilities and forming an operation model integrating R&D and production. The various bearing products developed by SBI are widely used in clean energy equipment and facilities in marine, land, and air fields.
In recent years, by introducing advanced foreign production and testing equipment, SBI has greatly enhanced its research, production, product quality testing, monitoring, and evaluation capabilities. The self-lubricating spherical plain bearings, rod end bearings, and miniature ball bearings produced have formed precise and reliable performance characteristics. As a result, SBI has been awarded the Special Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress by the State Council. In addition, SBI's products are characterized by multiple varieties, small batches, and high technological content. The corrosion-resistant, high-temperature-resistant, heavy-load, and long-life bearing series developed in recent years have solved urgent needs of users, greatly enhancing SBI's position and image among bearing users.
SBI has independently developed over ten types of bearing-specific testing equipment, such as the CJZ-1 residual magnetism tester, providing precise and convenient professional quality inspection equipment for enterprises in the industry and bearing users, and is highly favored by users.
The Machinery Industry Bearing Product Quality Testing Center (Shanghai) under SBI is equipped with various advanced bearing-specific testing instruments and test equipment. Among them, the industry-leading Industrial CT testing equipment can perform precise non-destructive testing of the density and structure of test objects, enabling quality defect identification and playing an important guarantee role in quality inspection and analysis of various bearing products. At present, the testing center undertakes product quality supervision and inspection tasks commissioned by the China Bearing Industry Association and technical supervision departments at all levels, as well as export product quality supervision and inspection work commissioned by the State Administration for Import and Export Commodity Inspection. It also accepts commissions from domestic and foreign bearing users and manufacturers to carry out authoritative arbitration of product quality inspection, quality consultation, and quality disputes, contributing to the improvement of product quality in the bearing industry.
