East China Sea Research Station, Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences

The East China Sea Research Station of the Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was founded in 1960 and is a research branch of the Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in Shanghai. The station currently has 5 research departments and 1 research center, and has built a high-level experimental water pool. In Qiandao Lake, Zhejiang, it has established a lake-based underwater acoustic experimental field equipped with a twin-hull experimental ship. It edits and publishes the professional academic journal "Acoustic Technology." Among the over 100 staff members of the station, scientific and technical personnel account for 85%, with 7 researchers, more than 10 associate researchers and senior engineers, and over 60 junior and intermediate researchers. Currently, it has 4 doctoral supervisors and 9 master's supervisors. The main scientific research directions include: underwater acoustic physics and ocean acoustics, underwater acoustic engineering and underwater acoustic signal processing, underwater acoustic navigation and underwater positioning technology, nonlinear acoustics, seabed acoustics, ultrasonic applications, and broadband multimedia digital communications, among others.
