太原市市政工程设计研究院创建于1949年，独立建院于1979年，是我国早期成立的市政工程甲级设计单位之一。隶属于太原市城乡规划局，为自收自支事业单位，现有员工238人。 我院具有国家批准的市政行业（燃气工程、轨道工程除外）甲级设计资质、水利行业（城市防洪专业）甲级设计资质、岩土工程勘察甲级资质、公路行业（公路专业）乙级设计资质、建筑行业（建筑工程专业）乙级设计资质、测绘乙级资质。业务范围：城市快道路、公路、桥梁、给排水工程、电气、热力、固体废弃物处理、城市防洪、工业与民用建筑等工程的勘测、设计、咨询、项目管理以及工程总承包等业务。
