CCCC Second Highway Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd. was established in 1964 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Communications Construction Co., Ltd. With a registered capital of 4.069 billion yuan, the company's business scope covers engineering construction, engineering design, engineering consulting, engineering supervision, engineering investment, and other transportation infrastructure construction fields. Its projects are spread across 30 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions nationwide, as well as 22 countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and other regions. It possesses a national-level technology center, a comprehensive grade-A testing laboratory, and specialized engineering research centers. It holds the special qualification for general contracting of highway engineering construction, 7 first-class qualifications for highway engineering construction general contracting, 3 first-class municipal engineering qualifications, and more than 60 professional and special contracting qualifications. Currently, it has approximately 10,000 management and technical backbone personnel, total assets exceeding 30 billion yuan, and an annual construction capacity exceeding 40 billion yuan. Over more than 50 years since its establishment, the bureau has focused on undertaking 'high, new, special, and difficult' road and bridge projects. Representative projects include the Sutong Yangtze River Highway Bridge (the world's largest-span cable-stayed bridge), the Zhoushan Xihoumen Bridge (the world's second-largest-span suspension bridge), the Runyang Yangtze River Highway Bridge (the world's third-largest-span suspension bridge), and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (a world-class super project). It has constructed 235 various types of extra-large river-crossing and sea-crossing bridges and independent bridges. It has also undertaken a large number of key national highway projects, including the Huning Expressway (a model highway in China) and its expansion project, the Linbai and Hanji sections of the Jingxin Expressway, the Hunan Dayue Expressway, the Hubei Hurongxi Expressway, and the Shaanxi Xihan Expressway.
