China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN), formerly China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group, is a central enterprise that has gradually grown and strengthened with China's reform and opening-up and the development of the nuclear power industry. It is a national mega enterprise group composed of the core enterprise China General Nuclear Power Group Co., Ltd. and more than 40 major member companies. In September 1994, China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group Co., Ltd. was officially registered. In April 2013, China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group was renamed China General Nuclear Power Group, and China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group Co., Ltd. was simultaneously renamed China General Nuclear Power Group Co., Ltd.
CGN takes "Developing clean energy for the benefit of human society" as its mission and "Becoming a world-class clean energy enterprise" as its vision. As of the end of February 2017, CGN had 19 nuclear power units in operation with an installed capacity of 20.38 million kilowatts; 9 nuclear power units under construction with an installed capacity of 11.36 million kilowatts; wind power controlling installed capacity of 10.86 million kilowatts; solar photovoltaic power generation project controlling installed capacity of 1.89 million kilowatts; and hydropower and pumped-storage in-operation equity installed capacity of 2.2 million kilowatts. In addition, it has achieved good development in distributed energy, nuclear technology application, energy-saving technology services, and other fields.
Since its establishment, CGN has adhered to the basic principles of "Safety first, quality first, and pursuit of excellence," insisted on the core value of "Do things right the first time," and based on the successful construction of Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station, formed a benign circulation mechanism of "Nurturing nuclear power with nuclear power, rolling development." It has established a professional nuclear power production, engineering construction, scientific research and development, and nuclear fuel supply guarantee system aligned with international standards. Since 2005, the group has entered new business areas such as wind power, hydropower, solar energy, energy-saving technology, nuclear technology, financial services, and public utility services. It has eight R&D centers and one national key laboratory, and possesses the capability to simultaneously construct and operate multiple nuclear power, wind power, hydropower, solar energy, and other clean energy projects nationwide, across regions, and on multiple bases, on the premise of ensuring safety.
