交通银行始建于1908年（光绪叁十四年），是中国早期四大银行之一，也是中国早期的发钞行之一。在深化股份制改革中，交通银行完成了财务重组，成功引进了汇丰银行、社保基金、中央汇金公司等境内外战略投资者，并着力推进体制机制的良性转变。2005年6月，交通银行在香港成功上市，成为首家在境外上市的中国内地商业银行。2007年5月又在国内A股成功上市。按总资产排名，交通银行位列世界1000家大银行的73位，按一级资本排名，交通银行位列第65位，已跻身全球银行百强行列。
