SK Hynix System IC, formerly the foundry business division of SK Hynix, has been engaged in foundry business since 2010. With the advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the foundry business specializing in chip manufacturing is growing rapidly.
To respond quickly to rapid market changes, SK Hynix System IC broke away from SK Hynix's traditional memory supply structure of "small variety, large volume production" in July 2017, and established a "multi-variety, small-batch production" system suitable for System IC.
We will solidify our position in the rapidly growing foundry market through active investment and swift decision-making.
SK Hynix System IC will strengthen its core business capabilities based on independent management, and further develop into a chip company focused on System IC, injecting new growth momentum into the SK Group.
SK Hynix System IC, spun off from SK Hynix, operates the Cheongju M8 fab with a capacity of 100,000 8-inch wafers, mainly producing Panel Driver ICs (DDI), Power Management ICs (PMIC), and CMOS Image Sensors (CIS).
The M8 fab's major customer is LG, for which it manufactures DDIs for LCD panels. M8 also produces PMICs for Korean companies Silicon Works and Silicon Mitus, and manufactures CIS for SK Hynix.
In August 2018, SK Hynix System IC of South Korea established SK Hynix System IC (Wuxi) Co., Ltd. as a wholly-owned subsidiary in Xinwu District, Wuxi, covering an area of 180,000 square meters. The first phase project invested USD 275 million.
The company will continue to increase investment, improve technology, production, and quality levels, and strive to become a leading System IC semiconductor company. The company's business scope includes: production, sales, import and export of integrated circuits, electronic components, and parts thereof, as well as provision of related technical services.
