Johnson Controls' automotive business unit was spun off from Johnson Controls Inc. (USA) in 2016, renamed Adient, and independently listed in the United States on October 31, 2016. Adient is one of the world's largest independent suppliers of automotive seats and components, with major customers including BMW, Chrysler, Ford, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan-Renault, Toyota, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, etc. At present, it has established multiple joint ventures in Beijing, Changchun, Shanghai, Shenyang, Chongqing, Guangzhou, and other cities in China.
