Moon Biotechnology, founded in 2015, is a platform-based biotechnology company focused on microbial discovery and biomanufacturing. It has established a complete industrial technology system from discovery, screening, modification to application of microorganisms, and built a global microbial strain bank and gene element library with the highest biodiversity, preserving over 350,000 microbial strains with independent intellectual property rights. Relying on high-standard strain resources, in-depth microbiome research and data mining, and synthetic biology technology platforms, the company efficiently develops and provides first-class bio-based products and solutions in subfields such as bio-agriculture, microbial protein, health ingredients, and biomedicine. Moon Biotechnology is a national 'Little Giant' enterprise in specialized and innovative fields, a key leading agricultural enterprise in Guangdong Province, a specialized and innovative SME in Guangdong Province, a high-tech enterprise, the South China Biotechnology Center of the National Strain Resource Bank, the Guangdong Engineering Technology Research Center for Microbial Breeding and Innovative Application (Moon), and the Guangzhou Development District Center for the Cultivation and Layout of High-Value Patents. It was also selected as one of the first batch of biological manufacturing pilot platforms by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (2025, the first in Guangdong Province). It has continuously received investments of hundreds of millions of yuan from leading investment institutions such as SDIC Venture Capital, Sequoia Capital, and Yueshiu Industrial Fund. In 2024, Moon Biotechnology completed a Series C+ financing of 300 million yuan, exclusively invested by SDIC Jvli, which was the company's second time receiving support from a national fund after the Series C round introduced the SDIC Venture Capital Fund.
