Edge Medical was founded on May 4, 2017 in Shenzhen by two Ph.D. graduates who had studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University in the United States. With the mission of advancing surgery, the company is committed to the development and popularization of intelligent surgical robot platforms.
The company's core team consists of scientists from world-renowned universities such as MIT, Harvard, and Imperial College London, as well as key engineers from well-known enterprises such as Siemens and Huawei, with rich multidisciplinary backgrounds spanning mechanics, electronics, artificial intelligence, materials, medical imaging, and industrial design.
Edge Medical is a company that masters both single-port surgical robot and multi-port surgical robot technologies. Through years of accumulation, the team has fully independently mastered multiple core technologies involved in surgical robots, including structural design, system control, motion algorithms, and artificial intelligence algorithms, and has formed a complete proprietary intellectual property system, with cumulative applications for over 400 domestic and international patents.
Edge Medical has built a standardized laparoscopic surgical robot production line, established a full-product-line production management process system, and a quality assurance system that meets GMP requirements.
The company has carried out extensive and in-depth cooperation with multiple domestic and international hospitals, including the Chinese PLA General Hospital, the Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, and Harvard Medical School in the United States.
In January 2021, the company completed nearly 600 million yuan in Series B financing. In November 2021, the company completed the signing of over 200 million US dollars in Series C financing.
