Wuling Power

Wuling Power Corporation Ltd. is a secondary unit of China Power Investment Corporation in Hunan. Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Changsha, the company traces its origins to Hunan Wuling Hydropower Development Co., Ltd., established in 1994. In 1996, the State Council authorized the company to take full charge of the development, construction, and operation of cascade hydropower projects in the Yuan River basin. In 2004, it was renamed Wuling Power Corporation Ltd. in response to development needs.

Guided by the Scientific Outlook on Development, the company pursues a path of clean energy development and actively advances the industrial strategy of "focusing on hydropower development, vigorously developing new energy, and actively developing power station services." It places equal emphasis on development both within and outside its region, and combines independent development with acquisitions and cooperative development, achieving steady and rapid growth as it marches toward the goal of building an energy enterprise with world-class management. At present, the company has 21 power plants built or under construction, with a total installed capacity of 7.302 million kilowatts. Of this, 3.918 million kilowatts of hydropower and 1.2 million kilowatts of thermal power have been put into operation; 984,000 kilowatts of hydropower and wind power are under construction, mainly distributed in Hunan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Xinjiang, and other places, initially forming a development pattern with Hunan and Guizhou as bases and advancing in regions such as Sichuan, Xinjiang, and Inner Mongolia. The company ranks first in Hunan's power market in both hydropower installed capacity and power generation capacity, and owns Hunan's largest hydropower plant, Wuqiangxi Hydropower Plant. Over the years, the enterprise's economic benefits have grown steadily and continuously, and its profitability has kept increasing. As of the first half of 2013, the company's total assets reached 39.7 billion yuan, with registered capital of 4.242 billion yuan.
