China Water Resources and Hydropower Eighth Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd., established in 1952, is a large state-owned comprehensive construction enterprise integrating design, construction, scientific research, manufacturing, and installation, with a super-grade qualification for general contracting of water conservancy and hydropower engineering construction. It also possesses six super-grade qualifications for general contracting covering housing construction, highways, railways, municipal public works, ports and waterways, and water conservancy and hydropower projects, a Class A qualification for water conservancy industry engineering design, and five Class A professional contracting qualifications for foundation and groundwork engineering, earth-rock engineering, steel structure engineering, hoisting equipment installation engineering, and highway subgrade engineering. Currently, it has 10,918 employees, including 4,314 management personnel and 4,272 technical personnel. In recent years, the company has continuously emancipated its thinking, deepened enterprise reform, focused on transformation and upgrading, achieving greater strength and expansion.

The company's technical level is leading or among the forefront in fields such as roller-compacted concrete dams, concrete double-curvature arch dams, concrete gravity dams, high slope treatment, foundation treatment, machinery manufacturing, large-scale artificial aggregate production, large-scale metal structure manufacturing and installation, and installation of large hydraulic turbines and switch stations. Many projects undertaken have won Luban Award, Zhan Tianyou Award, Gold Medal, Silver Medal, and Outstanding Engineering Award issued by the state and local governments.

The company has achieved brilliant accomplishments in the field of water conservancy and hydropower construction, with a total installed capacity of over 35 million kilowatts for hydropower projects undertaken solely by the company. As a main force in the construction of the Three Gorges Project, which marks the highest level of current world construction, the company completed the construction of the ship locks and power plant buildings with high quality and speed; built the world's largest artificial aggregate system - Xia'anxi Artificial Aggregate System; completed the installation of six 700,000-kilowatt hydro-generator units in the left bank power plant; and proudly became the producer of the first kilowatt-hour of electricity from the Three Gorges Power Station. In the construction of the second largest hydropower station in China, the Xiluodu Hydropower Station, it excellently completed the river closure task with the highest comprehensive difficulty in China and undertook the construction of the dam with the largest single engineering quantity in China's hydropower construction history. The company has demonstrated strong comprehensive strength in a series of world-class projects, including the world's highest RCC gravity dam - Longtan Hydropower Station, the world's highest parabolic concrete double-curvature arch dam - Xiaowan Hydropower Station, the world's highest arch dam in karst areas - Goupitan Hydropower Station, and Asia's highest overflow double-curvature arch dam - Ertan Hydropower Station.

The company has achieved good performance in non-electric construction fields such as highways, railways, nuclear power, thermal power, and municipal works. In more than 20 provinces and cities across the country, it has participated in the construction of projects including Sichuan Guangba, Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway, Xianning Nuclear Power Station, Jiangsu Rudong Wind Power Plant, and Anhui Chaohu Thermal Power Plant. It has undertaken the construction of rail transit projects such as Shijiazhuang-Jinan Railway, Qingdao-Lianyungang Railway, Shenzhen Metro Line 7, and Wuhan Metro Lines 8 and 11. It actively explores international markets and has contracted projects in Southeast Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America, including the Pakistan Barotha Hydropower Station, Malaysia Murum and Bakun Hydropower Stations, Cambodia Kamchay, Stung Atay, and Stung Treng-Phnom Penh hydropower stations, Bangladesh Shikalbaha Gas Power Plant, Dhaka-Jamuna Highway, Indonesia Aceh Thermal Power Plant, East Kalimantan Thermal Power Plant, Susu Thermal Power Plant, Ghana Bui Hydropower Station and photovoltaic power station, Uganda Karuma Hydropower Station, Nigeria Zungeru Hydropower Station, Kuwait Sabah New City Infrastructure Project, Kuwait University City Construction Project, Venezuela New Center Power Plant, Santa Canaima Highway, Barinas Heavy Oil Power Plant, and Ecuador Minas Hydropower Station. The company has also achieved breakthrough development in investment business in Changsha, Yueyang, Zhuzhou, Nanchang, and other places.
