Guangdong Power Grid Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd., a large state-owned backbone enterprise, with a registered capital of 66.8 billion yuan. Formerly known as Guangdong Broadcasting and Television Group Co., Ltd., it was renamed Guangdong Power Grid Company on March 31, 2005, and then renamed Guangdong Power Grid Co., Ltd. on June 4, 2014. The company owns 3,102 substations (including 78 substations at 500 kV), with a transformer capacity of 662 million kVA and a total transmission line length of 112,454 kilometers, with total assets of 573.331 billion yuan, making it one of the largest provincial power grid companies in China.

The company adheres to the enterprise purpose of "People's Power for the People" and is responsible for the investment, construction, and operation of power grids in 20 prefecture-level cities of Guangdong Province (excluding Shenzhen), covering a power supply area of 170,000 square kilometers, with 53,046,200 power supply customers and a population served exceeding 100 million, while also providing power supply to Hong Kong and Macau. In 2016, Guangdong Power Grid became the first provincial power grid in China to break through 100 million kW of total peak load, and by 2025, it exceeded 159 million kW, surpassing the national power loads of developed countries such as South Korea, Germany, the UK, and Australia.

The company currently has over 90,000 employees, including 302 doctoral students, 8,683 master's degree holders, and 11 experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council. The company has set up a post-doctoral research workstation, with 2 provincial and ministerial key laboratories, 11 engineering technology research centers, and has been approved to build 2 national energy research and innovation platforms. It has strong scientific research and independent innovation capabilities in multiple business areas such as power grid operation, power dispatch, information and communication, testing and experimentation, and integrated energy, holding 14,448 invention patents. Its key technologies in complex large power grid management and control, reliability management, power market trading, superconducting power applications, flexible DC transmission, and power robots are at the forefront in China. Guangdong Power Grid has maintained safe and stable operation for over 30 years and has ranked first in public satisfaction evaluation of local government public services in Guangdong Province for 17 consecutive years.
