Founded in 1958, Guangdong Metallurgical and Architectural Design and Research Institute is a state-owned survey and design enterprise affiliated to the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Guangdong Province and a subsidiary of Guangdong Environmental Protection Group Co., Ltd. Guangdong Environmental Protection Group is the largest, most technologically advanced, and best-resourced modern environmental protection enterprise among provincial state-owned enterprises in Guangdong, ranking among the top three in sewage treatment scale in Guangdong Province. The enterprise completed its corporate restructuring on July 13, 2018, and its name was changed to Guangdong Metallurgical and Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., with the enterprise type changed from a wholly people-owned enterprise to a limited liability company. The company has complete qualifications, including Grade A for comprehensive engineering survey, Grade A for metallurgical industry, Grade A for highway industry (highway, super-large bridges) specialty, Grade A for municipal industry (drainage engineering, road engineering, bridge engineering, urban tunnel engineering) specialty, and Grade A for building industry (building engineering). The company headquarters currently has nearly 400 employees, of whom over 75% have bachelor's degrees or above, over 60% have intermediate or senior professional titles and various registered qualification personnel, and 8 are professor-level senior engineers.
