Guangdong Construction Engineering Group Holdings Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "GDCEG Holdings") is funded by the People's Government of Guangdong Province and managed by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of Guangdong Province. Its predecessor was the Guangdong Provincial Construction Engineering Bureau, established in 1953. In January 2018, the provincial construction engineering sector enterprises underwent restructuring and reform, with the original Construction Engineering Group and the original Hydropower Group merging to form a new Construction Engineering Group (Guangdong Construction Engineering Group Co., Ltd., hereinafter referred to as "GDCEG"). On November 29, 2022, GDCEG's main business asset securitization was approved by the China Securities Regulatory Commission, making it the first provincial enterprise in Guangdong to achieve overall listing of its main business. In September 2023, according to the deployment and approval of the People's Government of Guangdong Province regarding GDCEG's asset securitization, it was agreed to change the government-funded enterprise from "GDCEG" to "Guangdong Construction Engineering Group Holdings Co., Ltd.".

GDCEG Holdings has been ranked among the "Top 500 Chinese Enterprises" for 19 consecutive years, and has been a "Guangdong Province Contract-honoring and Credit-worthy Enterprise" for 27 consecutive years. In 2023, it ranked 272nd among the Top 500 Chinese Enterprises. It has one listing platform (stock abbreviation: Guangdong Construction Engineering; stock code: 002060), 29 research institutions, 49 high-tech enterprises. Over the years, it has accumulated 52 Luban Prizes for China Construction Engineering, 70 National Quality Engineering Awards, 21 China Water Conservancy Engineering Quality (Dayu) Awards, 28 China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Awards, and 126 provincial and ministerial-level science and technology awards.

GDCEG Holdings focuses on three main businesses: construction and related industries, clean energy investment, construction and operation, and the medical and elderly care health industry (cultivation). It possesses four categories and five types of special-grade general contracting qualifications in construction engineering, municipal public engineering, water conservancy and hydropower engineering, and highway engineering, as well as five first-class design qualifications in planning, survey, architecture, municipal engineering, and water conservancy, and a comprehensive qualification system for soil and water conservation compilation, supervision, and various first-class and complete professional supporting qualifications. Centering on the positioning of the "large construction industry", GDCEG Holdings has built an integrated service capability of "investment, financing, construction, management, and operation", forming a development pattern that spans horizontally across construction investment, construction, scientific research and technical services, national reserve forest investment and construction, real estate development and related fields, clean energy such as wind, solar, and hydro power and equipment manufacturing, comprehensive hospitals, pharmaceutical and medical equipment operations, nursing services and care services; and vertically spans the entire project value chain from raw material supply, planning and survey design, construction supervision and consulting, inspection and testing, to operation and maintenance.
