Sustainable Development
Energy is essential to human development. Our society faces the dual challenge of providing reliable, affordable energy to a growing global population while reducing environmental impacts, including climate change risks.
To address this dual challenge, ExxonMobil is working in multiple areas, including advanced technology development, developing products that help users reduce emissions, improving energy efficiency, and making public policy recommendations. At the same time, we also actively contribute to other important sustainability areas, such as protecting employee safety, reducing plastic waste, and providing economic development opportunities to the communities where we operate.
In China, ExxonMobil is equally committed to sustainable development while conducting business. We actively support community welfare initiatives in China, particularly in education, health, and environmental protection.
Toward a Low-Carbon Future
ExxonMobil is committed to helping meet global energy demand while actively addressing the challenges of climate change and sustainable development.
In January 2021, the company established a new business, ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions, to commercialize its broad portfolio of low-carbon technologies, including carbon capture and storage (CCS), hydrogen, and low-emission fuels, initially focusing on carbon capture and storage (CCS). We are also exploring opportunities for cooperation within China, contributing corporate efforts and commitments to help China achieve its carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals. We hope the Chinese government will introduce supportive policies to encourage the application and development of low-carbon technologies, including CCS, in China.
