Okay Airways Co., Ltd. is a private airline enterprise approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and was the first private airline to commence operations in mainland China. Headquartered in Beijing, with its main operating base at Tianjin Binhai International Airport, Okay Airways had a fleet of 16 aircraft by the end of July 2012 (nine B737 series passenger aircraft, one B737 series cargo aircraft, and six MA60 aircraft).
Okay Airways has created many 'firsts' in the history of China's non-public economy and civil aviation development:
1. It inaugurated the era of private airlines in China. The maiden flight of Okay Airways in March 2005 was hailed as the 'first spring branch' implementing the 'Several Opinions of the Party Central Committee and the State Council on Encouraging, Supporting and Guiding the Development of Individual and Private Economy' ('Non-public Economy 36 Articles'), becoming one of the significant landmark achievements in the deepening reform of China's civil aviation.
2. It is the first public air transport enterprise in China's civil aviation to undergo operational certification under the new Part 121 before officially commencing operations.
3. It established and maintained the longest safety record among private airlines in China. By the end of 2011, Okay Airways had achieved six years and nine months of safe operations, carrying over 6.5 million passengers and more than 90,000 tons of cargo and mail.
4. It won the highest service quality award in China's civil aviation for two consecutive years—the 'User Satisfaction and Quality Award' in the 'Passengers Talk about Civil Aviation' campaign.
5. It is the first airline to introduce domestically produced aircraft in bulk and put them into commercial operation. Okay Airways signed an agreement with the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) to introduce 10 MA60 domestic aircraft, promoting the development of China's regional aviation industry. The first MA60 domestic aircraft successfully completed its maiden flight on October 19, 2008! This was a grand event marking the first formal commercial operation of domestically produced civil aircraft in China, creating a new chapter in the harmonious development of China's civil aircraft manufacturing and air transport industries.
With the innovative spirit of 'daring to be the first in the world,' high-spirited entrepreneurial passion, strong historical mission, and social responsibility, Okay Airways strives for excellence and innovative development, becoming the most dynamic and growth-oriented new airline in China's civil aviation. With the development strategy of 'combining trunk and regional routes, and passenger and cargo services,' Okay Airways will provide safe, comfortable, and convenient high-quality services to society, build an innovative, vibrant, and distinctive first-class airline, and contribute to the promotion of regional economic development and the building of a strong civil aviation nation in China!
