China Aerospace Sanjiang Group Co., Ltd. (The Fourth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, China Aerospace Science and Industry Launch Technology Research Institute, hereinafter referred to as "Aerospace Sanjiang") was formed through the merger and reorganization of the former Fourth Academy of CASIC and the former Ninth Academy of CASIC in December 2011. It is affiliated with China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation Limited and is the main body and technical lead unit for the research, development and production of China's solid launch vehicles, a backbone force in the science and technology industry, and a major unit for the research, development and production of special off-road vehicles and chassis.


Aerospace Sanjiang is registered in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, with total assets of 66 billion yuan, approximately 18,000 employees, and 29 member units, mainly distributed in Wuhan City, Xiaogan City, and Yuan'an County in Hubei Province, as well as Beijing City, Nanjing City, and Chengdu City. Aerospace Sanjiang adheres to the path of independent innovation and has formed a technological innovation system with its own characteristics, possessing 2 enterprise technology centers and 3 sub-centers, 15 provincial and ministerial-level laboratories and research centers, 7 provincial-level innovative (pilot) enterprises, 4 academician expert workstations, and 3 postdoctoral research workstations. It has successively won more than 800 provincial and ministerial-level science and technology progress awards and holds more than 4,200 currently valid authorized patents.


Aerospace Sanjiang has always adhered to the core corporate value of "national interests above all else," taking the forging of the cornerstone of national security as its primary responsibility. Multiple types of equipment and special vehicle chassis developed and produced by the company have participated in the National Day military parades for the 35th, 50th, 60th, and 70th anniversaries, as well as the grand military parades commemorating the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, solemnly receiving the review of the Party and the people.


While developing the aerospace defense industry, Aerospace Sanjiang has deeply implemented the innovation-driven development strategy and formed a new "4+3+N" industrial development pattern. "4" refers to focusing on the commercial aerospace and laser industry sectors, and actively developing special vehicles and heavy industry equipment, and energy equipment industries; "3" refers to continuously expanding the fields of information industry, microelectronics and microsystems, and financial leasing; "N" refers to promoting the transformation and application of N new technologies and advancing the development of key professional technologies. The Kuaizhou-1A general-purpose solid launch vehicle developed by Aerospace Sanjiang has successfully completed 9 commercial launches as of May 2020 since its successful commercial maiden flight on January 9, 2017.


In recent years, Aerospace Sanjiang has been rated as a "National Civilized Unit" for 3 consecutive times and has won multiple honorary titles including the "National May 1st Labor Award," "National Advanced Grassroots Party Organization," "National Model Workers' Home," "National May 4th Red Banner Youth League Committee," "40 Benchmark Units of Chinese Corporate Culture in 40 Years of Reform and Opening Up," and "Top 70 Brand Influence Enterprises in 70 Years of New China." The old site of the 066 Base in the Third Front region was selected as a cultural relic protection unit in the eighth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
