Chinese PLA General Hospital

The Chinese PLA General Hospital (301 Hospital), founded in 1953, is a large-scale modern comprehensive hospital integrating medical care, healthcare, teaching, and scientific research. The hospital undertakes the medical care tasks for the Party Central Committee, the Central Military Commission, and leaders of the General Staff Department, as well as some military officers stationed in Beijing. It also handles the diagnosis and treatment of difficult and critical cases referred from various military regions and branches, and admits patients from all over the country. The hospital is also the PLA Medical College, being the only hospital-based educational institution in the entire military.

The hospital is equipped with more than 22,000 medical devices, including digital angiography systems, PET-MR, PET-CT, cyclotrons, and computed tomography treatment systems, as well as hyperbaric oxygen chambers, robotic surgical systems, magnetic navigation interventional systems, intraoperative CT, and intraoperative MRI, with a total value of 2.6 billion RMB. The hospital has 165 clinical and technical departments, 163 nursing units, 6 national key disciplines, 1 national key cultivation discipline, and 1 national key discipline of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine for geriatrics. Additionally, it has 1 state key laboratory of the Ministry of Science and Technology, 1 key laboratory of the Ministry of Education, 8 military key medical laboratories, 6 Beijing key laboratories, and 33 military medical specialty centers and research institutes. The annual outpatient and emergency visits exceed 3.4 million, with 140,000 admissions and 68,000 surgical operations. The success rate for rescue of critical cases reaches 98.84%, and patient satisfaction rate reaches 97.38%.

The hospital currently has more than 1,000 senior professional and technical personnel. Among them, there are 5 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 150 experts of grade three or above, 184 doctoral supervisors, and 293 master's supervisors. A total of 92 individuals have served as chairpersons or vice-chairpersons of various national professional committees. The hospital has trained more than 5,800 master's and doctoral high-level clinical medical talents for both military and civilian sectors, as well as over 10,000 clinical advanced trainees and nearly 10,000 specialized course students for military and civilian hospitals.

The hospital has received more than 1,300 provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological achievement awards, including 6 first prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 20 second prizes, 2 National Invention Awards, and 21 first prizes of scientific and technological progress. Currently, the hospital sponsors 17 Chinese core scientific journals, and 1 journal has been indexed by SCI. It undertakes more than 800 various research projects such as "973" and "863" programs. The total number of papers published at home and abroad and the number of citations of domestic papers have ranked first among all hospitals in the country for four consecutive years. A total of 21 individuals have served as chairpersons or vice-chairpersons in the Chinese Medical Association, and 71 individuals have held similar positions in the Military Academic Committee. The hospital has established exchange and cooperation relationships with more than 100 well-known domestic and international institutes, enterprises, and medical or research institutions, and has hired more than 200 experts as visiting professors.

Upholding the value of "loyalty and sincerity, utmost precision and love," the hospital has produced exemplary groups and individuals such as "Model Medical Care Collective" - the South Building Clinical Department, "Model Medical Professor" - Jiang Sichang, and "Model Medical Expert" - Lu Shibi. Six individuals have been awarded first-class merits by the Central Military Commission, and two have won the "Florence Nightingale Award."
