The Engineering Research Institute of Shanghai Construction Group, affiliated to Shanghai Construction Group Co., Ltd., is a comprehensive central R&D institution integrating scientific research, technological development, product innovation, engineering demonstration, and achievement transformation. It focuses on the development of green, industrialized, and digital technologies, and conducts exploratory research and applied practice of forward-looking technologies. The Engineering Research Institute is located in Pujiang High-tech Park, Caohejing Development Zone, Shanghai, covering an area of over 30 mu with a total building area of more than 8,500 square meters. It jointly builds with the group's enterprise technology implementation, and currently has 3 municipal-level engineering technology research centers, 1 municipal-level innovation strategic alliance, 1 enterprise development alliance, 1 industrialization base, 1 national model academician expert service center, and 1 postdoctoral workstation. It also holds Class A design qualifications in construction engineering and municipal industry, and Class B qualification in geotechnical survey and design. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the Engineering Research Institute has obtained 2 national key R&D projects, 7 topics, and 8 sub-topics, with research achievements winning multiple national and provincial ministerial science and technology awards. It provides important technical support for a series of major and iconic engineering projects of Shanghai Construction, and is a gathering place for scientific and technological leaders, industry experts, and excellent talents dedicated to research and engineering practice. The General Contracting Department of Shanghai Construction Group, established in 1994, acts as the business unit undertaking the operation and construction general contracting management of super-large and iconic projects across the country. It has created miracles in areas such as super high-rise buildings above 300 meters, water conservancy and hydropower engineering, airport terminals, railway stations, large sports and cultural facilities, large transportation hubs, and super-large bridges. Each year, the number of major municipal projects, group major projects, and landmark external projects contracted by the General Contracting Department accounts for more than one quarter of the projects under construction. It has accumulated rich experience in general contracting and integrated management in large projects characterized as "high, large, fine, deep, and difficult". Represented by four "super projects" - Shanghai Tower, Shanghai Disneyland, the National Exhibition and Convention Center, and Kunshan Middle Ring Project - it has won four national "Luban Awards", three "Zhan Tianyou Awards", and one national excellent gold award, representing the highest construction management level of the group and the General Contracting Department. To improve development quality, the General Contracting Department has proposed the 16-character development policy of "Shanghai headquarters, national leadership, overseas pilot, and focus on project management", while focusing on building version 3.0 of the management company, strengthening the three-level control system, and building project management teams with core members including project manager (M), chief engineer (E), chief economist (E), and safety supervisor (S), abbreviated as "MEES diamond control", to enhance project-level control capability. Through the combination of four different methods, it promotes a new level of overall contracting control, commercial control, risk control, and quality control. The General Contracting Department adheres to the goal of enhancing core competitiveness and brand influence, based in Shanghai, deeply cultivating the national market, and focusing on expanding super high-rise, large complex, and large municipal projects. It strives to build employee career development channels, cultivate leaders and high-end professional talents, and take BIM technology, prefabricated construction techniques, urban renewal, and integrated utility tunnels as innovation breakthroughs at the industry frontier to improve industrial competitiveness.
