Nanfang Media Group

Nanfang Media Group is a party newspaper group led by Nanfang Daily, the official newspaper of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee. It is the most influential mainstream public opinion front in Guangdong and the mainstream media group in Guangdong selected as a "National Demonstration Base for Cultural and Technological Integration". Nanfang Daily was first published on October 23, 1949, coinciding with the founding of New China. Over the past 70 years since its inception, it has remained committed to sharing the same breath and destiny with the cause of the Party and the people, continuously growing while faithfully fulfilling the duties of a party newspaper and recording the changes and developments of the era. In May 1998, with approval, Nanfang Daily Newspaper Group was established; in July 2005, it was renamed Nanfang Media Group. Through more than 70 years of reform and development, as of March 2023, the Group has formed a full-media communication system of "newspapers, magazines, websites, mobile apps, microblogs, and screens", led by Nanfang Daily, encompassing 5 newspapers, 5 periodicals, 9 websites, 6 mobile apps, over 400 social media platform accounts at home and abroad, 1 publishing house, as well as 3,000 interactive touch screens and 10,000 square meters of outdoor LED screens, covering more than 457 million users. In 2021, it was successfully recognized as a "National Demonstration Base for Cultural and Technological Integration" by six departments including the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Central Propaganda Department. In 2022, the "China's Top 500 Most Valuable Brands" list was unveiled, and Nanfang Daily, Nanfang Metropolis Daily, and Southern Weekly, under Nanfang Media Group, continued to be listed, with a combined brand value of 167.422 billion yuan. The "Southern Data Ecosystem Project" was selected as a recommended case for "Technology Empowering 'News+'" in 2022 by the China News Technology Federation.
