Guangzhou Design Institute Group Co., Ltd. was established in 1952. It is one of the first batch of Grade A survey and design units in China, and one of the four guiding design institutes for national tourist hotel design designated by the former State Planning Commission, with design and survey as its core business. It holds multiple Grade A qualifications, including Grade A in engineering design for the construction industry, Grade A in municipal road engineering, Grade A in municipal drainage engineering, Grade A in geotechnical engineering survey, and Grade A in engineering consulting. It also possesses other qualifications such as urban planning compilation, construction drawing review, housing safety appraisal, and special equipment (pressure pipeline) design. Among them, Grade A in the construction industry is the highest qualification in the industry. In addition to construction engineering, it can also undertake Grade A special engineering design business in building decoration engineering, building curtain wall engineering, light steel structure engineering, building intelligent systems, lighting engineering, and fire protection facilities engineering. It has 14 production departments, 5 branches (subdivisions), and 4 subsidiaries. It employs nearly a thousand staff, including one national engineering design master, nearly 200 national registered professionals in various disciplines, and over 800 senior and intermediate technical personnel. Guangzhou Design Institute is positioned for "excellence and precision," adhering to a high-end route and creating flagship products. Over more than 60 years since its establishment, adhering to the Lingnan spirit of daring to be first, it has created a large number of landmark architectural works, such as Guangzhou Friendship Theatre, China Export Commodities Fair (Liuhua Road Exhibition Hall), Guangzhou Railway Station, Dongfang Hotel, White Swan Hotel, China Hotel, Guangzhou Tianhe Sports Center, Guangzhou Teemall, Guangdong Museum of Art, Hunan Provincial Government Office Building, Hunan People's Hall, Guangzhou New Library, Mao Zedong Relics Museum, Canton Tower (600 meters in height), Guangzhou International Sports Performance Arena, Guangzhou Taikoo Hui, Guangzhou Pearl River Tower, Guangzhou Chow Tai Fook Centre, Museum of the Nanyue King's Mausoleum, Phase I of Zhuhai Shizimen Central Business District Convention and Exhibition Complex, and Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in Zhuhai. These high-end projects have gained wide recognition in the industry for their excellent quality, unique design concepts, and leading technical advantages. Currently, the institute's architectural design works are spread across 18 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities in China, as well as 11 countries in Asia, Europe, and Africa, having won nearly 750 awards (times) at various levels, with brand influence ranking among the top in the industry nationwide. Large-scale urban complexes are one of Guangzhou Design Institute's flagship products. Guangzhou Teemall, as the earliest large-scale urban architectural complex designed by domestic architects in China, became a model project for domestic commercial real estate in its early years after its shopping center was put into use in 1996, driving the formation of a massive Tianhe business district in Guangzhou, and successively giving rise to Grandview Mall and Taikoo Hui. There are over 20 urban complex projects designed by Guangzhou Design Institute with a total construction area of more than 250,000 square meters, such as Guangzhou Chow Tai Fook Centre (530 meters in height), Baiyun Wanda Plaza, Nansha Wanda Plaza, Zhuhai Shizimen Central Business District, Xiamen International Trade Financial Center, Shandong Linyi Jiulong City Plaza, and Zhengzhou Vancouver Times Square. Guangzhou Design Institute has also undertaken multiple themed amusement buildings, such as Zhuhai Chimelong Ocean Kingdom (where the whale shark hall features a single acrylic panel measuring 39.6 meters long and 8.3 meters wide, an underwater viewing dome with a diameter of 12 meters, and an aquarium with a total volume of 48.75 million liters), Chimelong International Circus Theatre and its supporting Hengqin Bay Hotel, Circus Hotel, and Penguin Hotel, Nanhai CTS Water Park, and Panyu Xiangjiang Animal World Aviary and Qinglongshan Snake House. Technological innovation is an important measure for Guangzhou Design Institute to enhance its core competitiveness. In recent years, it has won nearly 20 science and technology progress awards, obtained 116 patent authorizations (including 19 invention patents), and led or participated in the compilation of over 40 relevant technical standards and specifications. It has been successively rated as "Guangdong High-tech Enterprise," "Guangdong Innovative Enterprise," and "Guangdong Benchmark Enterprise for Independent Innovation." It fully promotes the application of BIM technology in design, and has made outstanding achievements in promoting green buildings and Lingnan architecture. Among them, Guangzhou Taikoo Hui has become one of the few projects in Guangzhou to obtain LEED-CS Gold certification for operations; Guangzhou Pearl River Tower is currently one of the few super high-rise buildings internationally that integrates multiple energy-saving technologies, and has been listed as a "National Ultra-low Energy Consumption Demonstration Project," receiving LEED-CS Platinum pre-certification and attracting global attention. For over 60 years, Guangzhou Design Institute, relying on its good reputation, persistent pursuit of quality, and unremitting exploration of technology, has accumulated a strong brand. It has been rated as a "Contract-honoring and Creditworthy Enterprise" by the Guangzhou Contract Association for 15 consecutive years, and has been successively rated as "National Excellent Design Team," "One of the First National Survey and Design Integrity Units," "One of the Top 100 Famous Contemporary Chinese Architectural Design Institutes," "National Advanced Engineering Survey and Design Enterprise," and "National Innovative Excellent Enterprise."
